Zubek Named GMS Principal

On November 23, 2020 during a regular Board of Education meeting, one of the items on the agenda was to announce a successor to Glenn Labossiere, who was promoted to the newly formed Griswold Public Schools Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation position. The position was vacated, then known as the Director of Curriculum, by the retiring Susan Rourke.

Labossiere took the new position at the beginning of November during the current school year, which then left the GMS Principal position vacant. Louis Zubek, GMS Assistant Principal was named the interim Principal until a new principal was named.

Zubek was appointed the new principal on the date listed above.

In a letter released by Superintendent Sean McKenna, he states many of Zubek’s career highlights as an educator such as teaching mathematics at Lyme/Old Lyme High School as well as leadership roles with a NEASC Standards Committee, a new teacher mentor program, and the restorative practice board at Lyme/Old Lyme High School. In Griswold, Zubek has led the re-design of the Advisory Program at the Middle School and has served as an active contributor to the Griswold Public Schools District reopening plan.

A search for a new Assistant Principal of Griswold Middle School will start later this school year, according to McKenna.
