The Griswold Wolverines and Plainfield Panthers boys’ basketball teams went to battle on Saturday. Griswold was hoping to end a two game losing streak. Plainfield was on a six game winning streak. The Wolverines went into battle without Bryce Mileski and Nick Gileau, due to illness. Christopher Peasley got the Panthers on the score board with a three pointer. Zachary Lewis made two three-point shots and helped Plainifeld get out to a 13-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Griswold got the lead early in the second quarter after Max Gregory made a three from the corner. Gregory finished the quarter with 8 points. Griswold gave up the lead after Conner Davis nailed a three pointer. The Panthers led over the Wolverines 24 – 21 at halftime. Plainfield’s Zachary Lewis got on another roll in the second half, scoring 9 points in the quarter. The Panther defense also improved in the second half, holding Max Gregory scoreless. Plainfield had the game in hand midway through the fourth quarter. Conner Davis had 11 points in the fourth. Davis had 18 points in the game. Zachary Lewis led the Panthers in scoring with 20 points. Max Gregory, even though he was scoreless in the second half, led the Wolverines with 14 points. Griswold fell to Plainfield 67 to 38. The Wolverines have now lost three straight games. The next game for the Wolverines is Monday when they take on Parish Hill.
