State Troopers Make Willington Narcotics Arrest
Willington, CT (February 12, 2016): The Troop C-Tolland Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET), Statewide Narcotics Task Force (SNTF), DEA – Hartford Resident Office, United States Postal Inspection Service – Hartford, and Troopers from Troop C made a narcotics arrest following a several month-long narcotics investigation.
On February 11, 2016 investigators concluded a lengthy investigation into the distribution of Marijuana and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) concentrate, also known as Marijuana Wax or Honey Oil.
State Troopers from NET received information that Matthew Spinella was shipping THC concentrate and Marijuana from Oregon to Connecticut via the US Mail. Through the course of the investigation Troopers determined that Spinella recently sent a package that was intercepted by US Postal Inspectors. The package was found to contain approximately 13 ounces of THC Concentrate, approximate street value of $25,000.
Troopers applied for, and were granted, a Search and Seizure Warrant by the superior court. The warrant was executed when Spinella accepted the package at his residence. Troopers seized a total of 548 grams of marijuana, approximate street value of $8,000.00, two tabs of LSD, a small amount of cocaine, four amphetamine pills, $1280.00 in cash, scales and drug packaging.
Matthew Spinella was taken into custody and transported to Troop C where he was processed and held on bond pending his court date. The seized items were also transported to Troop C where they were held as evidence.
