Wauregan Man Arrested For Threatening Woman With a Knife

On July 25, 2018 at approximately 1:00 A.M., members of the Plainfield Police Department responded to an assault between a male and female occurring on South Chestnut Street in the Wauregan section of Plainfield, Connecticut. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the 29 year old female Victim who stated that her friend 45 year old Michael Mattingly assaulted her, threatened her with a knife, and restrained her from leaving the property. The Victim stated that she was eventually able to get away from Mattingly who chased her until she was able to seek shelter at a nearby residence and contact the police.
Mattingly was subsequently located at his residence at which point he refused to provide police with information regarding the incident. Mattingly was placed under arrest and transported to the Plainfield Police Department where he was charged with Assault in the Third Degree, Unlawful Restraint, Disorderly Conduct, and Threatening in the Second Degree. Mattingly was held on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear at State of Connecticut Superior Court Geographical Area 11 located in Danielson, Connecticut on July 25, 2018
