The 45th District race just got a lot more interesting. Originally John Michaels was the quiet candidate for the seat, and that’s because it was never announced although the paperwork had been filed on time to ensure there was a candidate in the race. ¬†However, Michaels will be removing himself from the race against Kevin Skulczyck, in favor of a new candidate on the Democratic ticket according to Town Committee Chair, Leona Sharkey.

Jumping into the race will be current Voluntown Selectman, Tracey L. Hanson. ¬†Hanson is also a member of Voluntown’s Economic Development Commission, and now challenging Griswold current First Selectman Kevin Skulczyck for the 45th district seat that is currently up for grabs with the retiring Paul Brycki not seeking re-election.

The Democratic Town Committee will have a meeting Wednesday night at Griswold Town Hall, 7PM, in the main meeting room where Hanson will be in attendance.
