Voluntown Schedules Special Meeting and Referendum For August

The town of Voluntown will be holding a special meeting on August 22nd at Voluntown Elementary, 7 PM to discuss items that are scheduled to be voted on at a referendum on August 29th.  The referendum will take place at Voluntown Town Hall, as stated earlier on August 29th,  starting at 6 AM.  Voting will close at 8 PM that evening.  There will be 2 separate questions on the ballot.  They are as follows:

 

1.   Shall the Town of Voluntown appropriate $39,000 for the demolition and removal of the structure on the town owned property located at 2 Church St, known as the Methodist Meeting House?

2.  Shall the Town of Voluntown appropriate $2,720,218 for design and construction of additions and improvements to the Voluntown Library, and authorize the issue of bonds and notes in the same amount to finance the appropriation?
