Voluntown Man Evades Officers In Accident And Now Faces Charges

On 12/18/2017 at approximately 1:30 P.M., Officers of the Plainfield Police Department were investigating a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Roode Road and Norwich Road when several witnesses pointed out that a second crash had occurred approximately 50 feet from the Officers location. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle which fled the scene traveling onto Roode Road into Griswold. The evading vehicle failed to stop when the Officer activated their emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle eventually pulled over after a distance, at which time the operator exited his vehicle and walked towards the Officer. The suspect disregarded the Officers verbal instructions at which time the Officer engaged the suspect and placed him to the ground advising him he was under arrest. The suspect was identified as 23 year old Taylor Rogers of Voluntown. Taylor was charged with the following:
Interfering with Police, Failure to obey a signal of an Officer, Unsafe backing, Operating with no license, No insurance, Evading responsibility. There were no reported injuries during the initial motor vehicle crash.
