Jerome Adams, the US Surgeon General took to Twitter stating “Seriously people, Stop Buying Masks Since they are not effective in preventing the general public from catching the Coronavirus but if healthcare providers can’t get to them for their sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk.”
Adams said the best way to protect themselves is by staying home if they are sick and washing hands with soap and water to help slow the illness. Adams also urged people to get their flu shots since fewer people with the flu leaves more resources available to tackle the Coronavirus disease.
The virus has now infected over 86,000 people globally and killed more than 2,900 albeit mostly in China.
