TWO CONNECTICUT STATE POLICE CRUISERS HAVE BEEN STRUCK IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS

16473580_1911215065774502_7998423733808012839_nOn January 23rd, a Trooper from Troop A – Southbury was stopped behind another State Police cruiser and a broken down motor vehicle (from a previous accident) on Route 7 northbound near exit 12 in Brookfield when her cruiser was struck from behind by another motor vehicle. Both the Trooper and the operator of the vehicle that struck the cruiser were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. On January 29th Troopers from Troop G – Bridgeport responded to I-91 northbound exit 3 for a one car crash and car fire. As the Troopers remained parked behind the crash in the left and center lane with their cruiser’s emergency lights activated, a vehicle drove towards the crash scene nearly striking a Trooper before crashing into the rear end of one of the parked cruisers. A Trooper was seated in his cruiser when it was struck from behind, and needed to be extricated due to the damage. The Trooper sustained minor injury and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The other operator also received minor injury and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
