Are you or someone you know 60 years of age or older and perhaps not getting enough nutritional value in your daily diet? TVCCA’s Senior Nutrition Program is designed for people 60 years old or above (and their spouses if applicable) who may need a little extra help. There are two options:
Join your peers at your local senior center (or the closest one that serves TVCCA’s lunch). Come relax and socialize, play cards, maybe some Bingo… or just come in to meet new friends. While you’re doing that, the local site server will be heating up nutritionally balanced meals for a delightful sit down lunch. You are also given fresh fruit or fruit cup, a slice of bread with butter on the side, and a carton of milk. A few examples of meals are: Western Omelet, Hash Brown Potatoes, Stewed Tomatoes with applesauce on the side; BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, Rice Pilaf, Chuck wagon veggies with a fruit cup on the side; or Crispy Cod Filet, Mac and Cheese, Broccoli with a fresh pineapple cup on the side. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 per meal.
If you are homebound and qualify, you could get Meals on Wheels delivered right to your home. You will receive deliveries twice a week that include a hot meal of the day, a few days supply of frozen meals (that are easily heated up in the microwave), fresh fruit or fruit cups, a loaf of bread with butter, and a few quarts of milk. This option is only for- those who are unable to come eat at a senior center.
Please call the commissary in Bozrah at 860-886-1720 to refer someone or yourself OR to find the nearest café near you. As of right now, there is no waiting list for Meals on Wheels and there are deliveries from New London all the way up to Thompson. Griswold Senior Center IS a site that has lunch and Meals on Wheels available; contact Tina Faulk for more information at 860-376-2604. If you would like more information about services you may you qualify for from the diverse programs TVCCA has to offer, please do not hesitate to contact the main campus in Uncasville at 860-889-1365.
