On September 11, 2020 at approximately 4:50 PM an SUV traveling northbound on I-395 in Griswold, about 1 mile from exit 24 hit a tri-axle dump truck carrying stone.

According to 2 eyewitnesses they stated that the dump truck started swerving back and forth on impact and rolled on its side on the right side of the road over the guard rails.  The 2 young men that saw the accident said that they were able to make contact with the driver of the truck who had a “very large cut” on the side of his head.  The driver asked them to call his son who immediately responded to the accident.

Clean up will take some time as stone was dumped all over both lanes on I-395 north where the truck rolled.

Connecticut State Police responded to assist medical and fire personnel.  The name of the driver was not available at the time of the accident and the extent of his injuries other than the large gash on his head is not known.  He was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment of his injuries sustained in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation with Connecticut State Police and SNSN will update this story when new information comes available.
