Truck Catches Fire After Striking a Tree

On May 19, 2020 at approximately 2:32 PM, Officers from the Plainfield Police Department along with members of the Central Village Fire Department and American Legion Ambulance responded to a one car motor vehicle crash into tree in the area of 111 Black Hill Road in Central Village.

A 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 being operated by 28 year old Joshua Thuotte of Canterbury, was traveling Eastbound on Black Hill Road when the operator went off the roadway to the right and struck and tree with the right front portion of the vehicle. A small engine compartment fire subsequently occurred which was extinguished by members of the Plainfield Police Department. Thuotte had self-extricated himself from the vehicle prior to personnel arriving. Thuotte was transported by members of the American Legion Ambulance to the Norwich, CT Backus Hospital for possible injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
