Suspect Being Sought in Groton Murder

Early Sunday morning, a man was shot and killed outside of Ryan’s Pub on Long Hill Rd in Groton.  Just after 1:30am, Groton Town Police officers found Joseph Gingerella, 23, of Groton with multiple gunshot wounds who was then taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Allegedly, Gingerella was coming to the aid of an assault victim.

Police have identified the suspect as 30 year old Dante Hughes, also of Groton.  If you have information regarding this incident, please contact the Groton Town Police Department at 860-441-6712.  Hughes is facing murder charges.

Gingerella is well known in his community as a person who turned his life around after battling drug addiction.
