Statewide Narcotics Task Force Detectives Seize Kilogram of Fentanyl following Traffic Stop

Old Lyme, CT. (September 13, 2017): Connecticut State Police troopers and Statewide Narcotic Task Force detectives seize one kilogram of Fentanyl following I-95 traffic stop. On September 13, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m., troopers from Troop F – Westbrook, and detectives assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force – East Office (SNTF-E), conducted a traffic stop on I-95 northbound near exit 70 in Old Lyme. The vehicle, a 2009 Honda Accord, operated by Gabri Darlin Javier-Delapaz was stopped after SNTF-E detectives received information that the vehicle may contain illegal narcotics. While speaking with the vehicle occupants, Javier-Delapaz and passenger Alcides Rafael Gomez-Alba, troopers further determined that illegal narcotics were present in the vehicle. Javier-Delapaz and Gomez-Alba (the vehicle owner) gave troopers consent search the vehicle. Connecticut State Police troopers and SNTF-E detectives, along with the assistance of Narcotic Detection Dog, K9 Hogan, searched the Honda. K9 Hogan alerted troopers to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Upon further search troopers located one solid brick of suspected illegal narcotics – determined to be fentanyl – in the vehicle. The brick of fentanyl weighed one kilogram, and carried a street value of approximately one million dollars. Javier-Delapaz and Gomez-Alba were taken into custody and transported to Troop F. Gabri Darlin Javier-Delapaz (dob 9/7/91) of 105 Bellview Ave., Providence, RI was charged with Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Narcotics >1 ounce With Intent to Sell. Javier-Delapaz was held on $500,000.00 bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on September 14, 2017. Alcides Rafael Gomez-Alba (dob 6/18/89) of 52 Manton Ave., Providence, RI was charged with Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Narcotics >1 ounce With Intent to Sell. Gomez-Alba was held on $500,000.00 bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on September 14, 2017.
