On April 18, 2016 at approximately 9:40pm, Troop E-Montville was assisting the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) with the search of a missing 49 year-old woman reported in Rocky Neck State Park.
At the time of the request, the Troop E K9 was unavailable; however the Troop F-Westbrook K9 was available. Troop F K9 Porter, and his handler TFC Warren, immediately responded to Rocky Neck State Park to assist DEEP with the search of the missing female.
At approximately 11:30pm, during the course of the search, TFC Warren notified dispatch that K9 Porter had fallen approximately 20’ off a rock wall.
TFC Warren and K9 Porter were assisted back to TFC Warren’s state police cruiser, and K9 Porter was transported to an emergency veterinarian’s office for the evaluation of an injury to his right front leg. The missing woman was later found safe.
K9 Porter was treated and released, and will be out of work while he recuperates.
