State Police Investigation at Ellington Residence

(MIDDLETOWN, CT – December 23, 2015) – State Police continue to investigate an incident at an Ellington residence that sent one person to the hospital. Troopers initially responded to the residence for an active burglary alarm.
On December 23, 2015 at approximately 10:16 a.m. State Troopers from Troop C-Tolland responded to a residence on Birchview Drive after receiving a residential burglary alarm. Upon arrival, Troopers found one victim who sustained injuries. The victim was transported to Hartford Hospital for the further evaluation of non-life threatening injuries. Troopers also found smoke in the residence.
Troopers secured the scene, and Troopers, along with K9 teams conducted a search of the area. Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime (EDMC) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Detectives from the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU) also responded to the scene and will assist in the investigation.
Troopers and detectives remain at the residence and continue to process the scene to determine what activated the burglary alarm, and how the victim sustained injuries.
At no time during this incident was there any threat to the public or community.
This incident remains under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
