STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING UNTIMELY DEATH IN EAST LYME – Believed to be missing Stonington Woman

***UPDATE*** Stonington Police captain Todd Olson has confirmed it to the be the body of 48 year old Christine McGugan. According to Olson, there are no signs of foul play.
EAST LYME (November 18, 2015) – The Connecticut State Police is investigating an untimely death at Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme. State Police were notified on Nov. 17, 2015, of the location of a vehicle belonging to a person missing from Stonington. During the evening and into this morning, State Police K-9 teams searched for the missing person. A female body was located in Rocky Neck State Park by a K-9 team at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 18. Detectives from the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad initiated an investigation into this case. Also responding were Troopers from Troop E-Montville, Stonington Police Dept., and the Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection. The Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner will determine the case and manner of death. Once the deceased is positively identified and next of kin is notified, State Police will release the name of the deceased. The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released when learned.
