State Police Begin Investigation Into Officer Involved Shooting in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, CT (March 18, 2020): On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, the Waterbury State’s Attorney’s Office and the Connecticut State Police – Central District Major Crime Squad were assigned to investigate a police involved shooting that occurred in the Town of Cromwell. Central District Major Crime Squad obtained all available body worn camera footage from the Cromwell Police Department. There is no footage available of the Cromwell officer discharging his weapon. The officer involved has been identified as Sergeant Ryan Parsons, who has been a member of the Cromwell Police department since October 15, 2007. The Connecticut State Police would like to note this is a three prong investigation. In addition to the criminal investigation, Midstate Traffic Squad is investigating the motor vehicle accident that occurred in Town of Cromwell. The Cromwell Police Department will also be conducting their own internal affairs investigation to ensure the police officers acted in accordance with their policies and procedures.
