Southbury Man dies in Norwich Head on Collision

A Southbury man is dead after a high speed chase on West Main St in Norwich at approximately 2:17 Sunday morning. Corey Long of Hartford did not pull over when requested by Norwich Police to do so. Long continued and the officer pursued. Long was said to be possibly under the influence.
According to Connecticut state police, the crash occurred when the fleeing vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 2 near the intersection of Route 12 and the driver struck a curb and lost control. The vehicle swerved into the westbound side of Route 2 and collided head-on with another car that was stopped at a traffic signal.
The victim was identified as 74 year old Thomas Richter of Southbury. The driver, Carol Richter of New Milford was taken to the hospital for non life threatening injuries.
