Single Car Auto Accident Strikes House

On January 27, 2019, at approximately 1:46 AM, Officers from the Plainfield Police Department along with the Moosup Fire Department, American Legion Ambulance, and Mortlake Ambulance responded to a one car motor vehicle crash involving a residence located on Collelo Avenue in the Moosup section of Plainfield.
Through investigation it was determined that a 1996 Chrysler Sebring operated by 62 year old Maria Cerpovicz of Taftville, was traveling eastbound on Collelo Avenue when it traveled off of the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox and a large bolder. The Vehicle reentered the roadway, traveled off of the left side of the roadway, and struck a residence.
Cerpovicz was taken by Mortlake Ambulance to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam for treatment of possible minor injuries. A passenger in Cerpovicz’s vehicle, 59 year old Kathy Mooney of Plainfield was transported by American Legion Ambulance to the Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment of possible minor injuries.
This accident is still under investigation.
