Seven Businesses Destroyed in Norwich Fire on New Year’s Eve

December 31, 2016 brought the end of 2016 and the destruction of several businesses in the town of Norwich. The fire began around 3:30 AM at the intersection of West Main Street and Banas Court, and took several hours to put out. Fortunately, by the end of the blaze, no injuries were reported. However, substantial damage had been done. A total of seven businesses were destroyed during the fire. These buildings include: Offices for Access to Health Chiropractic Center, State Farm insurance, Salon Studios, a taxpayers’ assistance firm, Hi Dental Care, a Sur-Bright Commercial Cleaning outlet and an Ideal Weight Loss center. Furthermore, nearby buildings suffered smoke and water damage. Norwich officials predict a community-wide impact as a result of the incident. For starters, the will strip the city of significant tax revenue, although an exact amount has not been announced. As a result of the fire, the building must be knocked down. According to East Great Plain Fire Chief Keith Milton, the building will be knocked down sometime this week.
