Over the holiday weekend, a burglary took place at Serenity’s Catering at the Jewett City Little League. Keith Phillips, the owner of Serenity’s Food Truck on Route 138 next to AmericINN also has a space at the Little League field that offers some of the same foods that he serves off of his truck.
Someone or multiple people pried open the roll up window, ripped the screen that was in place and either reached in or climbed in. The burglars proceeded to break open the cash register and stole an undetermined amount of cash and then spilled black paint everywhere which is an item they had to bring themselves since owner Keith Phillips says there was no paint on the premises. The burglars then threw dirt over the counters in order to take away any finger prints that may have been left behind. Phillips is asking parents or residents in the community to see if they know anyone that had black paint on them, hands, or clothes to please contact the Connecticut State Police. Video captured from the Jacques Cartier Club proved to be inconclusive to this point and there were no paint cans or containers left behind.
