They are back to tearing up main st in the borough of Jewett City again. Now, state DOT workers are here installing catch basins and according to a DOT employee, there is roughly 8 they have to get done. It’s another step that has to be taken before they can start paving which was something that was planned all along to follow up the single lane that Eversource was responsible for after they installed gas lines for business and residential customers. Not to mention the Griswold School Campus.
DOT workers stated that now is a perfect time to get the catch basins done because traffic is so light with the stay home stay safe and social distancing orders. The actual paving will start in the 2nd or 3rd week in May of 2020 and will extend through the borough all the way to Butts Bridge Rd.
