Risk of Injury Charge to a Minor Charge for Plainfield Man and Willimantic Woman After Both OD

Thursday nigth State Troopers were dispatched to a possible overdose in Danielson.  When police arrived, it was determined that there were 2 victims of an apparent overdose, Maya Alexandria Almond-Laswon of Willimantic and Elijah Markkamau Collins of Plainfield, both of no certain address.  Both victims were treated and NARCAN was administered on scene by EMS personnel and both responded positively to the treatment.  Both were then transported to Day Kimball Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.  The investigation determined that there was a 5 year old child present at the residence during this incident.  The residents of the apartment stated that they had left the apartment for approximately 20 minutes and upon returning, found Collins and Almond-Lawson both unconscious and breathing erratically.  At this point, 911 was called.  Collins and Almond-Lawson admitted to smoking marijuana prior to going unconscious.  It’s suspected that the marijuana may have been tainted with another substance, possibly an opiate.  Upon their release from the hospital, both Collins and Almond-Lawson were arrested for risk of injury to a minor charges.  Both were held on a $2500 bond.  DCF was also notified and responded to the scene
