Rhode Island Man Arrested for Area Bank Robberies

On 05/18/2016 at approximately 9:30 AM the Plainfield Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jason Loyd of Foster, Rhode Island charging him with Robbery in the 2nd Degree and Larceny in the 2nd Degree
Loyd who is currently incarcerated at Corrigan-Radkgowski Correctional facility in Connecticut committed the bank robberies of both Jewett City Savings Bank in Dayville, CT and Citizens Bank in Plainfield, CT this past January. Due to the help of a witness and the efforts of multiple Connecticut and Rhode Island police agencies Loyd was able to be located and subsequently confessed to both robberies upon being interviewed.
Loyd who currently is incarcerated on the Jewett City Savings bank robbery was arrested at the Danielson Superior Court and held today on a $150,000 cash/surety bond based on the Plainfield robbery. Loyd remained in custody at Danielson Superior Court and will appear before a judge.
