Regular Traffic Stop Nets Drug Arrest in Plainfield

On 08/07/16 at approximately 3:35 pm Trooper Adam Litwin #780 conducted a traffic stop of a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander rental car bearing MA reg 4SM244 on I 395 northbound just north of the Plainfield rest area for several motor vehicle violations to include failure to maintain the established lane and a cellphone violation. During the traffic stop Tpr. Litwin observed numerous indicators inside the vehicle to include the odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A CSP canine was then requested and Tfc. Zmayefski #762 and K-9 Peruan #9058 then arrived at the scene. When K-9 Peruan was deployed he alerted to various areas of the vehicle to include a piece of luggage where US Currency was located hidden in a pants pocket. During a further search of the vehicle approximately 33.4 grams of high grade marijuana, 7 grams of heroin and $3,508 in US Currency was seized. It was later learned from the operator that the heroin was laced with fentanyl. As a result the operator, Jennifer Best, DOB: 11/04/88 the vehicle renter, Marlon Teixeira, DOB: 06/28/89 and the rear seat passenger, Jennifer Savoie, DOB: 06/24/87 were arrested and transported to Troop D Danielson. Best and Teixeira were charged with Possession of Narcotics 21a-279a, Possession of Narcotics WITS 21a-278b and Possession of Marijuana over ½ oz. Best was subsequently released on a $25,000 dollar non surety bond and is to appear at GA 11 on 08/17/16 for the above charges. Teixeira was processed and held on a $75,000 dollar cash/ surety bond and will be presented at GA 11 on 08/08/16 for the above charges. Teixeira is currently out on bail from Massachusetts in regards to a 2015 narcotic trafficking investigation that involved the sale of Fentanyl. Savoie was charged with Possession of Narcotics 21a-279a and was later released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and is to appear at GA 11 on 08/17/16 for the above charge.
