On January 16, 2016 at approximately 12:17 PM, the Plainfield Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a red colored vehicle driving erratically, striking multiple objects on the roadside as it was traveling southbound on Norwich Road near its intersection with Lathrop Road.

The vehicle was later again spotted traveling northbound on Norwich Road near the Better Val-U still driving erratically. There were multiple reports describing this vehicle striking various objects on the roadside at different locations throughout town. It was seen striking a telephone pole near Better Val-U, a road sign by Agway, and seen traveling in the wrong lane into oncoming traffic. One of the callers described the driver of the erratic vehicle’s actions as “making her fear for her life” at one point as the driver was traveling on the wrong side of the road directly at oncoming traffic.

The vehicle, a maroon 2002 Dodge Stratus, was later located at the Plainfield Town Hall with the back window smashed and damage to the front end of the vehicle. Upon speaking to the driver, Colton J. Blake (age 25) of 426 Tarbox Road, Plainfield CT, he claimed he did not remember striking any objects on the roadway as he was traveling to “the old Agway”. He did admit to being the only individual driving his vehicle today and to traveling on the roadways in which he was observed driving erratically. Colton claimed that he gave an unknown male a ride home to a location he doesn’t recall. Colton said that he did have to drive North of the Old Agway to drop this unknown male off at home. This was the same direction in which he was observed striking multiple objects over on the roadside.

Colton was then placed under arrest to which a search of his person subsequent to arrest revealed that he was in possession of Synthetic Marijuana along with paraphernalia. Colton was charged with Evading the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Maintain Established Lane, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs, Reckless Driving, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was able to secure $1000.00 cash/surety bond and was given a court date of February 1, 2016 at the Danielson Superior Court GA-11.
