On Sunday August 11, 2019 at approximately 3:14 P.M., members of the Plainfield Police Department were patrolling the area of North Main Street in Moosup in an attempt to locate a vehicle that was reported to be driving recklessly in the area. Several pedestrians walking in the area described the vehicle as an older style blue Ford Mustang.
While patrolling the area of Lake Street, an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling southbound on Lake Street. After spotting other motor vehicle violations, the officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop at which point the driver attempted to elude the officer by accelerating rapidly and pulling into a driveway on North Main Street. The operator of the vehicle proceeded to exit the vehicle at which point a brief foot pursuit ensued. The male was subsequently apprehended in the backyard of the residence where he was placed under arrest.
The operator, later identified as 45 year old Trevor Gaudreau, was transported back to the Plainfield Police Department where he was formally charged with interfering with an officer, failure to obey the signal of an officer, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, misuse of plates, insufficient insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and a brake light violation. Gaudreau was later released on a $5,000.00 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Danielson Superior Court on August 26, 2019.
