Griswold Wolverines softball continues on this incredible ride through the 2017 season. They notched their 15th win of the season against Wheeler 14-1, with no losses and remain ranked #1 in the state according to Max Preps. Leading the scoring parade on Tuesday was Brooke Rainville. Rainville’s had a heck of a week first being honored by the CIAC and her own school for being the female Scholar-Athlete of the year as Wolverine Radio had reported and today Rainville went 2-3 with a double and a home run over hr the right center field fence. Shay Sauvageau, Maya Waldron, and Kamryn Gurnee all had a pair of hits for the Wolverines.
Maya Waldron, although effective against a contact hitting squad in Wheeler, didn’t have one of her dominating outings on Tuesday striking out 4 while also walking a pair. Waldron also seemed to have trouble with her off speed pitch which she has used effectively throughout the 2017 campaign. The most trouble Waldron ran into was in the 1st when she gave up a lead off double to Kendra Perez and an infield single to senior Gracie Anglin. The Lady Lions could only manage one other hit on the afternoon. Julia Janca pitched the last 2 innings to hold onto the victory and struck out the side in the 7th to end the game.
