The Plainfield Police Department is required to operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and any employee may be required to work any hours, days or shift, including holidays and weekends. Police Officer Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 21 Years Old or Older
  • Citizen of the United States
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License
  • Absolutely:

“NO” Felony Convictions

“NO” Domestic Violence Convictions

“NO” A and/or B Misdemeanor Convictions

  • Successfully Pass an Extensive Background Investigation
  • Psychological Testing
  • Substance Screening
  • Physical Agility Test

How to Apply:

Entry-Level: The Plainfield Police Department is a member of the Law Enforcement Council and uses their services for portions of the testing process. If you wish to become a Sworn Officer of the Plainfield Police Department, you must first schedule a written examination with the Law Enforcement Council. Lateral Transfer: Lateral transfer applicants must be a POSTC certified police officer or a Lateral Entry (out-of-state) police officer meeting POSTC requirements. Those POSTC certified candidates that are interested shall apply online at www.policeapp.com.
