Police: Failure to Turn Safe Causes 2 Car Head On Collision

On December 3, 2018 at approximately 12:40 PM the Plainfield Police Department along with the Atwood Hose and Central Village Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported “head on” two-car motor vehicle accident on Putnam Rd in the Wauregan section of Plainfield, CT. The accident happened in front of the Classic Performance and Repair garage facility located in Wauregan. and it was reported that the two operators involved in the accident sustained injuries. Upon investigation of the accident it was determined that a southbound vehicle operated by 55 year old Todd J. Loomis of Dayville, had failed to safely turn into the driveway of the repair facility and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound by 49 year old Wilfredo Sanchez of Holoyoke, MA. In an attempt to avoid the collision with Loomis’s vehicle Sanchez also struck an unoccupied parked vehicle in the parking lot of the repair facility. Both Loomis and Sanchez were transported by the Mortlake ambulance and Killingly/Brooklyn ambulance to local emergency departments for treatment related to non-life threatening injuries. Loomis was issued a citation for Improper Turn.
