Police Chase One on Bike Trails and then Returned to Serve His Brother with Warrant

On April 17, 2017 at approximately 11:08 A.M., members of the Plainfield Police Department arrested Ryan Menders, 29, of 43 Sachem Dr., Plainfield, CT.

Officers arrived at 6 Ralph St., Moosup, CT, to serve an unrelated warrant. Upon arrival Menders fled the scene on a green Kawasaki dirt bike at a high rate of speed into the Rails-to-Trails in Moosup, CT, off of North Main St., Moosup, CT, disobeying the signal of the Officers.

Officers continued patrol checks of the area in attempting to locate Menders. Upon conducting a foot patrol of the trails located off Withey Hill Rd., Moosup, CT, Officers located Menders who once again attempted to evade police and was subsequently subdued by taser.

The dirt bike Menders was operating was found to be unregistered, uninsured, and stolen out of Sterling, CT. The dirt bike was subsequently returned to the owners.

Menders was transported to the Plainfield Police Department and charged wtih Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Operating without Insurance, Interfering with an Officer, Disobeying the Signal of an Officer, and Larceny 3rd Degree.

Menders was later released on a $10,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear at the Danielson Superior Court, G.A. 11, on May 1, 2017 at 8:30 A.M.

Officers later returned to 6 Ralph St. and arrested Ryan Menders brother Travis Menders, 26, for Violation of Probation who was held on a $50,000.00 court set bond and arraigned at the Danielson Superior Court on April 17, 2017.
