Plainfield Woman Gets Pulled Over in Rental, Arrested for Drug Possession

On 07/17/2019 at approximately 6:42 pm, members of the Troop D – Quality of Life Task Force stopped a rental vehicle on Route 44 in Pomfret for a motor vehicle violation. Troopers approached the car and spoke with the driver and passenger. While speaking with the occupants, Troopers noticed several indicators of criminal activity and became suspicious that narcotics may be present within the car. The passenger, 40 year old Kristy Carpenter of Plainfield confessed to the QLTF Troopers that she had narcotics on her person and turned over approximately 1200 bags of fentanyl pre-packaged for sale that later weighed approximately 265 grams. Carpenter was placed under arrest and transported to Troop D where she was processed and charged with Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Narcotics With intent to sell. Carpenter was placed on a $50,000 bond and is to appear in Danielson Superior Court on 07/31/2019.
