Plainfield Police To Participate In Operation Clear Track

On Tuesday, September 24, 2019 beginning at 8 AMthe Plainfield Police Department will be participating in “Operation Clear Track. Members of the department will be stationed at the railroad crossing located on Railroad Avenue in Plainfield handing out Amtrak-provided safety cards to motorists and pedestrians. In addition, the department will be providing the safety cards to the Plainfield Public Schools. The purpose of this operation is to raise public awareness in order to protect the community and promote safety at railroad crossings.

If traveling in the area of the railroad crossing be prepared to stop and be conscious of officers who are located outside of their vehicle. The Plainfield Police Department would like to thank the community for their participation.

    In memory of a good family friend I love this idea. I only wish it were implemented prior to his death. Hopefully it will be a reminder preventing future heartbreak.

    So basically, further inconvenience the townsfolk that already sit through hours each month of having to wait for a train to move out of the roadway…rather than fining the train company every time a train obstructs traffic for more than 5 minutes; as mandated by law.

    Pure genius.
