Plainfield Police Pursuit – Full News Release

.On March 5, 2016 Kevin Shaw, 30, of 916 North Main St., Danielson, CT, was arrested for numerous charges after leading members of the Plainfield Police Department on a pursuit that ended on Black Hill Rd., Plainfield, CT.

At approximately 12:20 A.M., Plainfield Police Department was notified by Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications that an unknown male who was later identified as Shaw was attempting to commit suicide somewhere in the area of Shepard Hill Rd., Wauregan, CT.

A member of Plainfield Police Department was able to locate a blue 2015 Chevy Silverado behind United Services located at 303 Putnam Rd., Wauregan, CT. The Plainfield Police Officer observed a garden hose leading from the exhaust into the cab of the vehicle. Upon being approached by an Officer, Shaw traveled off the roadway with his vehicle into a nearby corn field. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle pursuing it through the cornfield into the village of Wauregan where the vehicle continued to travel at a high rate of speed and erratically.

The pursuit continued on numerous back roads through the village of Wauregan, before leading towards the area of Black Hill Rd. Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications were able to re-establish contact with Shaw and a Dispatch was able to convince him to pull his vehicle over. The vehicle was blocked in and upon being approached by Officers Shaw refused to show his hands and exit the vehicle. After a brief struggle with members of the Plainfield Police Department he was subsequently placed under arrest.

Shaw was transported to the Plainfield Police Department where he was charged with Interfering with a Police Officer, Engaging an Officer in a Pursuit, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs, Drinking While Driving, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Proper Lane, and Failure to Give Proper Turn Signal. Shaw was issued a $10,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear at the Danielson Superior Court, G.A. 11, on March 21, 2016. Shaw was subsequently transported to Backus Hospital for an Emergency Medical Evaluation.
