The party identified as James Trask, 19, of Plainfield reported that he was riding his bike from McDonald’s to the Shell Gas station also on Lathrop Road.  Trask reported stopping at the 395 northbound on ramp checking for oncoming traffic and when he saw no vehicles he attempted to cross. Trask reported that’s when he was struck by the vehicle which then fled the scene.   Trask reported a dark color possibly black Toyota Highlander continuing northbound onto 395. Trask was able to provide a partial registration plate of the vehicle and it is believed there is damage to the driver’s side front quarter panel and door.  Trask was transported by American Ambulance to the Backus Emergency Care Center in Plainfield to be treated for potential injuries.  Trask was later released.
