Plainfield Man said to be Transporting Quantities of Heroin from Hartford

During the months of August and September 2016, the Plainfield Police Department began receiving anonymous tips concerning a white male named Karl Kievits. Kievits, a 25 year old man from Central Village, Connecticut was reportedly selling quantities of heroin throughout Plainfield. Concerned parties said that Kievits was being driven around by various people to buy large quantities of heroin in Hartford to bring back and sell in and around the Plainfield area. On September 14, 2016 the Plainfield Police Department received information that Kievits had gone to Hartford to buy heroin and was returning to Plainfield to make sales. At approximately 7:32 p.m., members of the Plainfield Police Department located Kievits traveling west on Route 14 in Plainfield exiting the Sugarbrook Field Trial environmental area. The car was being driven by Kievits and traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was subsequently stopped on Route 14 on the Black Hill Road section of Plainfield. The driver of the vehicle was positively identified as Kievits. Kievits was found to be in possession of 193 bags of heroin and prescription Suboxone narcotics which he had concealed under the floor mat of the driver’s seat. Karl Kievits was arrested and charged with 2 COUNTS OF POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS, POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS WITH INTENT TO SELL, AND FAILURE TO KEEP NARCOTICS IN PROPER CONTAINER. Kievits was placed on a $10, 000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on September 26, 2016.
