Plainfield Little League Vice President Accused of Soliciting Sex From 14 Year Old Boy

A Plainfield baseball coach who is also the Vice President of the town’s Little League has been accused of soliciting a 14 year old Rhode Island boy for sex.  33 year old Christopher Merchant of Canterbury allegedly had correspondence with the boy online that had become sexually explicit and attempted to set up a time where they could engage in sexual activity at a Warwick, RI hotel

During the investigation, the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children task force discovered indecent materials that had been sent to the 14 year old as well as other child pornography,

Merchant is being held on $100,000 bond pending arraignment
