On March 1, 2017 at approximately 2:31 PM the Plainfield Police Department and the Moosup Fire Department responded to a one car motor vehicle accident on Snake Meadow just north of the intersection of Moosup Pond Rd. The crash occurred when a 2011 Chevy Silverado pickup truck traveling north on Snake Meadow Rd exited the right side of the road and struck a utility pole guidewire. The impact caused components of the utility pole to be damaged and requiring Eversource Electric to respond to the scene. In addition fluid from some of the damaged components spilled onto the roadway and had to be professionally removed. The damage and fluid on the roadway caused Snake Meadow Rd to be shut down between the Moosup Pond Rd and North Sterling Rd intersections. The operator of the vehicle, Leo Marcure (age 58) of Moosup was not injured in the crash.
As of 6:00 PM the roadway was still closed to traffic.
