Connecticut senators Andrew Maynard and Clark Chapin, who are retiring from the senate, were honored on their final day in the senate.
Maynard, the Stonington Democrat, suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2014 when he fell off an outdoor staircase at his home. The injuries also affected his speech. Maynard recently announced that he will not seek re-election to the 18th district, a seat held for 10 years. An emotional Maynard was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and kindnesses expressed by his colleagues on his final day in the Senate.
Maynard said he couldn’t believe all the compliments, adding that “people have just been wonderful.”
