The Memorial Day Ceremonies and parade take place on Monday May 25 beginning at 9am in Fanning Park. The key note speaker is Mr. Kevin Brown. Brown is the current Mohegan Tribal Chairman. He also served 25 years in the U.S. Army, serving stateside and in deployed environments. After the ceremonies in the park the parade will immediately follow. The parade route is form Fanning Park to St. Mary Cemetery in Lisbon where we will have a short service. Once complete the parade will reform an march back toward Jewett City. On the way back to Jewett City the parade will briefly stop on the Lisbon Bridge for a ceremony to “decorate the waters”. At the conclusion the parade will reform and continue to Fanning Park where the parade will end. There is also a parade and ceremony at 1pm at Pachaug Cemetery on Rt 138 in Griswold. The Jewett City Veterans Council is in charge for the Memorial Day events.
