On May 6, 2018 at approximately 3:30pm the Plainfield Police Department along with members of the Moosup Fire Department and American Legion Ambulance Corps responded to a reported one-car versus utility pole crash that occurred in the area of 401 Snake Meadow Rd in Moosup, CT. Upon emergency responders’ arrival at the scene the operator of the vehicle, John Morley (age 39) of North Sterling Rd in Moosup, was located standing along the shoulder area of the roadway. Morley said that he was traveling south on Snake Meadow Rd when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved to take corrective action. Morley drove off the roadway and struck a utility pole located along the southbound shoulder area. As a result his vehicle, a 1995 Subaru, suffered heavy damage and the utility pole was snapped into several pieces. Morley, who was transported from the scene by ambulance to the Backus Emergency Care facility in Plainfield for treatment of minor injuries related to the crash, was cited for failure to drive in established lane. Utility crews from Eversource are currently at the scene replacing the utility pole and repairing the damage to the utility wires.
