NY Man Snaps Utility Pole With Vehicle In Moosup

On September 12, 2019 at approximately 5:09 PM, Officers from the Plainfield Police Department along with the Moosup Fire Department and American Legion Ambulance responded to a one car motor vehicle crash on Sterling Hill Road in the Moosup section of Plainfield, Connecticut.
Through investigation it was determined that a 2018 Toyota Rav 4, operated by 43 year old Matthew Sweeney of Cobleskill, New York, was traveling east on Sterling Hill Road when it traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The Rav 4 suffered heavy damage and the utility pole was snapped into several pieces. Sweeney was subsequently transported from the scene by the American Legion Ambulance to the Backus Emergency Care facility in Plainfield for treatment of injuries related to the crash.
This accident remains under investigation.
