Norwich Public Schools Had No Choice But To Close on Friday

In an announcement by Norwich Public Schools Superintendent, Kristen Stringfellow, there would be no school today, Friday, January 14, 2022 due to teacher shortages. As of Thursday, 56 teachers and 33 paraprofessionals have already called out sick for today.
Stringfellow also said that they can’t have a remote learning day because the governor has to authorize that.

Most school districts in Connecticut are having a tough time finding teachers, substitutes, and paraprofessionals due to the virus. Some schools have offered special incentives and dropped some levels of qualification for subs in order to fill spots during the pandemic.
