Norwich PD K9 Officer Ozzy Has Been a Busy Pup

On Monday, June 17, 2019, at 2:30pm Norwich Police Officers responded to a one-car crash on Harland Road near Old Canterbury Turnpike.  Upon arrival, Officers located a vehicle that had rolled over, and the operator had fled the scene. Officer Ken Wright and his K9 partner Ozzy were called to assist. K9 Ozzy located the operator hiding in the woods. The operator of the vehicle, 33 year old Jesse Hatfield was arrested.

On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 2:52am Officers responded to the area of Washington St for a report of a burglary in progress. Responding Officers encountered the reporting party who was suffering from punches to the face. The victim stated he came home and saw two men trying to get into his window. When the victim confronted the suspects, he was struck in the face, and they fled on foot. Again K9 Ozzy and Officer Wright were called to the scene. Officer Ozzy located one of the males under the Westside Bridge, attempting to conceal himself. 20 year old Jason Anderson, was arrested. The second male’s identity is known, and officers will be applying for an arrest warrant.

The Norwich Police Department is incredibly proud of Officer Wright and K9 Ozzy who apprehended two suspects within 12 hours.
