gavelHARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Norwich man faces up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a heroin distribution charge tied to a fatal batch of the drug that killed a teen in April.

The Hartford Courant reports ( ) 34-year-old Jonathan Fisher waived his right to indictment and entered the guilty plea Monday in federal court in Hartford.

Federal officials say charges brought against Fisher stem from a recent local and federal law enforcement initiative targeting suspected dealers of opioids that cause fatal overdoses.

Fisher has pleaded not guilty to state charges connected to the fatal overdose of an 18-year-old man, who was found dead on April 9 at his Summer Street home. A confidential informant directed Norwich police to Fisher’s whereabouts before his arrest.
