New members to the Board of Education mean new positions. A new chairperson and other officers need to be elected with current chairperson Elizabeth Dorff leaving since her term is up. Superintendent of schools Paul Smith opened the meeting asking that the Board begin their nominations for Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary to the Board. All nominations were carried unanimouosly. The new chairman of the Griswold Board of Education will be Attorney Stu Norman…. Frank Everett is now the Vice Chairman adn Laurie Sorder is you new secretary of the board. It wasn’t all about appointments at the meeting. The Board, Superintendent Smith, administrators and audience members recognized Brianna Kinney, a Griswold High School senior, who received a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program for outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test last year.
