Jewett City Man Sustains Serious Injuries After His Car Is Stolen in the Borough

March 25th at approximately 9PM, a 2006 Ford Fusion car was stolen on Main St in the borough of Jewett City. 46 year old Matthew Kelly of Enfield stole the vehicle from Wally Wojciak of Jewett City. After Kelly took possession of the vehicle, he ran over Wojciak causing him to sustain serious injuries and was taken to Backus Hospital via American Ambulance. Kelly then took a right onto Ashland St where he hit a 2014 Ford F-150 Pickup truck driven by Nathan Yeaton of Jewett City and his passenger, Caitlinn Ellis, also of Jewett City. Kelly took off again heading down Ashland St and onto to Pleasant View St where he hit a curb, drove off the road and hit a utility pole causing the car to catch on fire. The theft and subsequent accident remains under investigation.
