Driver Claims Brakes Failed After Repair Causing Accident
On 4/23/2019 at approximately 8:30 P.M., member of the Plainfield Police Department, Central Village Fire Department and American Legion Ambulance responded to the area of 67 Shepard Hill Road for a reported one car motor vehicle accident into a telephone poll.
Upon arrival, officers located a 2004 GMC Denali that had traveled off the roadway and collided into a telephone pole snapping it upon impact. The vehicle was operated by Joseph Poudrier, his wife Jennifer Poudrier and their 4 children all of Danielson, CT. Joseph reported that his vehicle lost braking power as it traveled down Shepard Hill after recently have a brake job done. Joseph was able to lock up his brakes before traveling of the roadway colliding with the poll. Jennifer along with her 4 children were transported to the Plainfield Backus Emergency Care Facility to treat their minor injuries.
Shepard Hill Road to the area of Cady LN will be closed until the early morning hours of 4/24/2019 as Eversource crews work on replacing the poll.
This accident remains under investigation.
