Mystic Man Engages Police In Pursuit Only to be Caught in Cemetary

On Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., an attempt was made to stop 48 year old Michael McAlister of Mystic on Route 12 in Gales Ferry for motor vehicle violations. He engaged officers in pursuit which led through Preston and Norwich ending in the Norwich Hebrew Benevolent Association Cemetery on Middle Rd in Preston, CT. As a result, the McAlister was arrested on various charges including Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs. McAlister was also found to have a warrant with the Mohegan Sun Police Department. He was transported to Ledyard Police Department where he was processed and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, reckless driving, engaging an officer in pursuit, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and failure to maintain minimum auto insurance
McAlister was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear at New London Superior Court on 1/10/20. He was turned over to Mohegan Sun Police Department for their warrant from an arrest dating back to 11/23/2019 where he was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and failure to maintain minimum auto insurance, as well as evading responsibility. He will answer to tribal charges on 1/7/2020.
